I am a supporter of RhinoShield since the day they launched their first Kickstarter campaign for the Impact Resistance screen protector. I backed most of their projects.
Pictures at the bottom of this post show the beauty of the cases (I bought 7 cases including the blue leather version but I did not take a picture for all of them). Yes. They are beautiful. They smell good too. You know, the “new product scent”.
Honeycomb case and carbon fiber like case look cool, but they are fairly slippery due to their smooth matte surface. Leather textured case is better than Honeycomb as it feels great when holding it.
Unfortunately, here comes the disadvantages of these cases.
- Many tiny crack lines started to show up just a few days after using the Honeycomb case. And due to its semi transparent nature, you can easily see them. The one my sister was using even showing a huge crack line.
- They claimed that Honeycomb case wouldn’t turn yellowish, but apparently it does. I bought three Honeycomb cases, two of them turned yellowish.
- Rubber lips (that surrounds the front area) separated from the hard construction.
- Leather case wise, I have the same issue as everyone else is talking about i.e. peeling off.
So what did I do when all these happened? I contacted customer service team of course. Remember, each of these cases was only used for like about 1-2 weeks, with extra care!
Their customer service staff were a joke. When I reported to them that the rubber lip was separated and some cases have obvious crack lines, they asked me to film a video. So when I sent them the video, they said the rubber lip was separated because I pinched them intentionally. I was really confused because I had to “pinch” it slightly so that they see the problem.
Anyway, the customer service horror story was really.. long. If I were to keep talking about it, it will defeat the purpose of “brief reviews”. If you want to know more about it, leave your comment below instead. Otherwise, I will need to stop here.
I have got rid some of the faulty cases and the conclusion is, I received replacements for some of these cases but I won’t use them anymore. This will be their last Kickstarter project that I will ever back. No matter how great your products are (well, not so great especially this SolidSuit product – crack lines even before had a chance to drop it from 11 feet? No thanks.), if your customer service team existed just to accuse your supporter, then no, this is not a brand that I will ever support again.
